HOW TO CUT OFF YOUR HAIR REPLACEMENT SYSTEM

Cutting off your hair prothesis, for the first time, couldn't be very easy if you don't have the right experience, but here we are going to explain it to you step by step so you will not make any mistakes.

First we have to see the basis size of the hair prothesis. Generally it is long 8 inches x 10 ( 20.32 cm x 25.40 cm), this to be sure to realize the correct changes you need to adapt it.

However there are some customers , once they received their product, who go to a specialized stylist to get a complete service. But in alot of occasions it is very difficult to find a stylist who is able to correctly cut off the base of your hairprothesis.

WHICH MATHERIALS DO YOU NEED TO CUT OFF THE BASE OF YOUR HAIR PROTHESIS?

The matherials you need are:

Scissors

Marker

Measuring tape

POINTS TO RESPECT BEFORE CUTTING THE BASE OF YOUR HAIR SYSTEM

To make a perfect hair-dress we you should use scissors for hair, they have to be sharped and you should use them only to cut hair.

We advise to use a water based marker, or any pen that allows you to mark a line and than erase it at the end of the cut. In this way you won't have any permanent marks left inside the base.

And now we have to use the measuring tape too which has to be flexible so it will be easyier to adapt it to the hair prothesis and to its warpes.

HOW TO MAKE IT:

First, cut by using the hair scissors the excess matherial, it means the zone without hair.

In this exemple we used an hairprothesis in stock composed by net and monofilament.

Now you should use the measuring tape and you should measure the zone you want to cut. You have to do it to measure both the base lenght and the base width.

It's important that the measures you want to cut are the measures you took from the patch zone.

You shouldn't take the measures on a hair prothesis already placed only because you don't want to remove it, from my experience this doesn't give you good results.

If you are using an hairprothesis in this moment while you are cutting the new one, you should always take the measures from your patch zone.

Here you should join the marks to get a solid round on your base.

We also advise you to use a tape for the borders , this will be a guide to give a shape in the back zone where those kind of tapes will be located.

Before cutting the base of your hair prothesis, make sure to bring the hair back, behind the line you marked.

Then, cut carefully along the line and make sure the hair remains behind the line; otherwise you could cut your hair by mistake. If you cut the hair you will have small wicks around the hairline and will not look very natural. So if you don't have a lot of experience, take your hair backwards from the line you marked.

Then cut the entire line until you reach the front area.

Be sure to leave a minimum of 5 ″ wide or a maximum of 5.5 ″ for the forehead, as this is the average size of a person’s forehead. You will have something like the following image.
Recommendation

Special care must be taken to cut the Belacombo hair prosthesis, as it has a plasticized part of 2.0 ″ behind and 1.50 ″ on the sides. If you make a large cut you will be without the plasticized part, so keep this in mind when ordering this design.

conclusion

There are several ways to cut the base of your hair prothesis and each user or stylist has their own way to do it.

However, the best advice we can give you is that, make the cut a little larger than your real measures so you will have the opportunity to place the unit on your head and to analyze the details.

It is easier to adjust and manipulate the hair of the prosthesis when it is already resized than when it is not.
